The Cartoon Art Museum, founded in 1984, is currently hosting its first themed original art fundraising auction, A Tribute Auction Honoring Mike Mignola’s Hellboy. We’re excited to announce that Patrick McDonnell is among the many cartoonists, animators, and graphic novelists whose work will be featured in the auction and subsequent exhibition. Other participating artists include Sergio Aragonés (MAD), Harry Bliss (The New Yorker), Steve Purcell (Sam and Max), Kent Williams (The Fountain), and more to be announced.
The auction launched May 15 on eBay under the user account “cartoonartmuseum,” with select pieces available now and and others to be added bi-weekly throughout the summer.
Patrick’s piece — a MUTTS-themed Hellboy tribute print that includes original drawing — is up for bid from now until Thursday, June 15. If you’d like, click here to view the piece and place your bid!
All artwork created for this auction will be on display at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco in the fall of 2017. Please note that all auction items will be shipped in January and February 2018 after the exhibition closes.
