This week, Patrick McDonnell released The Little Gift of Nothing, a new children’s book! This board book, designed specifically for the youngest of readers, offers a shortened adaptation of the critically acclaimed perennial favorite The Gift of Nothing.
Featuring beloved characters from the MUTTS comic strip, this simple story follows Mooch the cat as he attempts to find the perfect holiday gift for his friend Earl the dog. “What do you give a guy who has everything?” Mooch wonders. Ultimately, Mooch presents Earl with something priceless and far more special than anything for sale at a store: nothing.
A truly heartwarming tale, The Little Gift of Nothing provides an important message about the value and charming subtleties of friendship. The original version, released back in 2005, has sold hundreds of thousands of copies, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, and was adapted into an award-winning musical theatre performance.
Patrick will be promoting this release — along with his brand-new children’s book Tek: The Modern Cave Boy — during a month-long book tour that kicked off this week.
