Welcome to the MUTTS November Newshletter. And to the new MUTTS website! The MUTTS team’s hard work and creativity has made it all happen. They’ve added a bunch of new content, including the many collaborations I’ve had the honor to be part of over the years. New shtuff will be added continually over time.

Recently www.the-mutts.com has teamed up with 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses, individuals, and non-profits working to tackle the world’s pressing environmental challenges. You can be sure that its mission includes helping animals. The 1% for the Planet model allows MUTTS to donate directly to partner charities while making the commitment to donate at least 1% of annual revenue. Details will soon be provided on which specific charities MUTTS will be donating to — in addition to the animal shelter and rescue organizations we already support.

Speaking of a great cause, The National Cartoonist Society (of which I am a member) has again partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Heritage Auctions to raise funds. I have contributed a hand-colored published MUTTS strip celebrating the 60th year of the first Fantastic Four comic books. It will be auctioned off this Wednesday, November 3.

November 2 is the release date for my latest MUTTS collection, MUTTS Moments. I've always felt the comic strip is a perfect medium for capturing (and celebrating) the simple, precious, fleeting moments of life. This collection contains strips from MUTTS’s 25th anniversary year.

It’s hard for me to believe, but my six-month sabbatical is already coming to an end. This week I submitted two new MUTTS Sunday pages to my syndicate, King Features. The first Sunday will appear in newspapers and on www.the-mutts.com on January 2, 2022, and going forward, new Earl and Mooch daily adventures will follow.

The art I am creating for my book collaboration with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Heart to Heart, is nearing completion. It has been a long, enjoyable, intense process. I can’t wait to be able to share it all with you. Hopefully soon.

Wishing you a joyful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Stay safe and be kind to the animals.

Hello and peace to everyone!

John Paine

Please lighten up. The squirrels are a staple. Mutts and every one of it’s personalities is an interconnected group that grows bigger and better by the year. Thank you for always making me and my family’s day!

I’m in year two of having the Mutts desk calendar on my desk at work. I must say, it has brought me so many moments of joy! I also share them with my colleagues who are now falling in love with Mutts, too. Thank you for brightening my days and contributing to compassion for animals in our world.

My comment about the squirrels is simply that they are totally boring and I am sick of them. It’s the only part of Mutts that is the same, over and over and over, and never funny, in my mind.

Marcia Peters

Hey Bonnie! I agree with you…the squirrels rock! They are hilarious! Please don’t change a thing!

Heidi

Can’t wait for the next new strips and have pre-ordered the new book. Mutts always brings a smile to my day

dear helen barker (!) - please lighten up. The squirrels do no harm-they are one of my favorite parts of Mutts! They add lightness and fun! The best! They are not bullying, certainly not mean, and, most assuredly, not hurtful! Squirrels rock!

Bonnie Lynch

Mutts’ desk calendar is a work of art that brings me daily joy; thank you! I have one request that I’ve made repeatedly, and it puzzles me that it hasn’t been addressed. The stand is plastic, which isn’t consistent with your otherwise concern for the environment. I’ve seen other calendars using cardboard stands successfully. Can’t Mutts?

I enjoyed seeing Crabby in

i am urging you again to please stop shoeing the squirrels hitting others with nuts! this behavior is bullying, mean, hurtful and not consistent with your closing message of ’ stay safe and be kind to animals!
